GASS Welcomes the 2012 Returned Scholarship Winners!
Feb 6 2012
As per GASS and SAGSE tradition, a group of dedicated GASSies made the 6am trek out to Sydney International Airport to welcome home the 2011-2012 Australian Scholarship Winners.
A group of tired but excited-to-be-home teenagers meanwhile piled off the plane, through customs with minimal delay, and emerged to be greeted by parents, siblings and the GASSies.
These students are in for a very exciting year as First-Year GASSies, with many upcoming events organised to help their integration into an international network of students spanning nearly five decades and some 2000 scholarship winners before them.
We look forward to the energetic contribution these new GASSies will make to the society over the next few years!
The exchange provides a unique opportunity for young Australians to experience at first hand the many cultures of a different country, a new way of life and another language, through both hosting a german student, and on the exchange itself. Often, the friendships they make will be life long and important in achieving the aims of the exchange - the building of goodwill and understanding between countries. The Society is registered with the respective Government Authorities in New South Wales and Victoria, and is sponsored by German and Australian businesses, and fundraising activities of past scholarship holders.
